Romantic Songs

Filed under: Bollywood, New releases — Hindi movies @ 10:16 am

The year 2008 has brought with it great compositions of Hindi movie songs. Excellent romantic songs have been composed, and to add on to the lyrics, fantastic music which is composed can not be overlooked. It seems as if the Hindi Movie makers have now understood that raps and rocks are required but the importance of the romantic and soothing songs cannot be ruled out.

Any good romantic song catches the attention of the audience and also gets lot of appreciation. All the songs of Jab We Met and Race are excellent. However, the song from the movie Race “Pehli Nazar Ne” is exceptional, with no comparisons. The way the feelings are expressed are superb in it. The music also enchants the audience.

Hey those of you who are part of the Hindi Movies or more often called Bollywood, keep up the good work.

Review On Hindi Movie Mithya

Filed under: Bollywood, New releases — Hindi movies @ 1:07 pm

Ranvir Shorey gives a mind boggling performance in the Hindi Movie Mithya. This movie is also the directorial venture of Rajat Kapoor. The story line is totally different and unique.

The story deals with an aspiring actor who due to circumstances gets entangled with the underworld. The story is similar in some aspects to the block buster movie Don. But the Director and the Writer twist the story in unique and interesting manner. The movies’ weakness is its climax. Apart from the climax almost everything in the movie is good. The first half of the movie is full of humor and fun, whereas the second half is full of emotions.

The costumes worn by Neha Dhupia reminds you of the 70s era and it is a welcome change from the current Hindi Movie scenario.

Overall the movie is worth watching for its costumes and acting performances by the star cast.

Shahid Proves His Acting Skills Yet Another Time

Filed under: Bollywood, Kareena Kapoor — Tags: — Hindi movies @ 7:37 am

Here comes Shahid in the Hindi Movie Jab We Met with all the romance and lively acting. Shahid has acted in this movie with minutest details in mind. His eyes speaks out the emotions perfectly matching what he wants to say and even when he doesn’t say, his eyes speaks loud and clear.

Very perfectly he has played the role opposite Kareena. Even the scene in the hotel where Kareena dopes out by unknowingly making others think that she is a prostitute, is well enacted by Shahid, his facial expressions are just superb. The say story line moves is really appreciable. Shahid and Kareena has proved their worth. Both of them seem to be made of each other.

Shahid has brought out the emotions of romance and happiness in the movie in spite of his relationship being at the edge with Kareena Kapoor in his personal life.

Kareena Rocks In Jab We Met

Filed under: Bollywood, Kareena Kapoor — Tags: — Hindi movies @ 12:08 pm

The role of Kareena Kapoor in the Hindi Movie Jab We Met is that of a young lively girl who wants to live her life fully, without any restrictions imposed on her. She lives the way she wants in hope of fulfilling her sweet dreams that she has. It actually shows the way a young girl thinks at that age.

Her innocence captures the heart of the youth. The lively atmosphere takes the audience to the romantic mood. Every scene fills the fragrance of romance. The songs are very very melodious and just hit the heart the way the composer would have thought of.

The role played by Kareena can be related with any young girl just in her youth with all nice dreams about her man and the kind of life she wants in her future. A beautiful movie with extraordinary perforamance by all the actors and especially Kareena and Shahid.

Review: Jodha Akbar

Filed under: Aishwarya Rai, Bollywood, Hrithik Roshan, New releases — Tags: , — Hindi movies @ 6:56 pm

The much awaited Hindi Movie Jodha Akbar lives up to its expectation.  It manages to mesmerize the audience inspite of all the controversies and delay in release dates.  Movie of this epic proportion has been made after a very long time.  Every thing about this movie is on a grand scale; be it the battle scenes, costumes, jewellery or the various sets.  The best thing about the movie is the attention given to the various details which proves that the director has made the movie with heart and soul.  In fact, Jodha Akbar is not a mere display of grandeur but is full of romance, action and drama.

The movie is set in the sixteenth century and deals with the love story of Emperor Akbar and Princess Jodha.  It highlights how two different people from different religious and cultural background are brought together in holy matrimony for political reasons.  This subject matter has not been covered in any of the movies of the past.  The story slowly reveals the love story of Princess Jodha and Emperor Akbar.

The first half of the movie is interesting, especially the confrontation of Jodha and Badi Maa.  It is really entertaining.  And also the fight between Jodha and her brother is praiseworthy.  Hrithik and Aishwarya have given excellent performances and it is visual treat for the eyes to see them in the royal costumes.  Every actor in the movie succeeds in portraying the character.

Kiran Deohans’ cinematography, jewellery by Tanishq and costumes by Neeta Lulla leave the audience spell bound.   The background score of the movie is quite good and the music blends beautifully with the era of the film.

Over all Jodha Akbar is a must watch Hindi Movie for its epic proportions.

Sunday

Filed under: Bollywood, New releases — Hindi movies @ 1:39 pm

If you have the patience of sitting through the first half, then you may enjoy this movie. The opening of the movie is quite boring and that is the main problem with this movie. The first half is loosely edited and has a weak script. The concept of this movie is good ,the plot is well hidden and the climax does manage to get you to the edge of the seat but finally the director forgot to work on the first half of the script.

Ajay Devgan is a corrupt police officer who falls in love with Ayesha Takia. In one of the parties Ayesha is drugged which makes her forget what she did on Sunday.Ajay along with his assistant try to unearth this very secret throughout the movie and they are helped by Arshad Warsi and Imran Khan.

The duo Arshad and Imran have very good sense of comedy and make you laugh throughout the film. Their roles are fantastic and add the much needed comic relief to the film. Imran is a budding actor who wants to rock the hindi movie industry and Arshad Warsi is a taxi driver who does not find anything funny in life which is contrary to what audience thinks. After quite some time we get to see good comedy and that to of a different genre.

Ajay Devgan has acted well and so has Ayesha. In fact Ayesha has experimented with her role. Her dubbing scenes are good and worth a watch. The music is wash out with nothing worth mentioning.

To sum it up this is not a out of the world film and this kind of stories have been repeated many times, so if you have nothing else to do and plenty of money to spend , go and watch this movie.

Dhoka

Filed under: Bollywood — Hindi movies @ 12:12 pm

Dhoka is definitely the best movie of Pooja Bhatt. The movie highlights the subject of terrorism . The interesting thing is that no one is blamed in the story but the facts are brought forward; due care is given in the writing of screenplay and script. The pace of the movie is fast and the intensity of the story is never diluted.

It is the story of a police officer, who is unaware of the terrorist activities of his wife. Hell breaks loose when she blows herself up and kills innocent public. Zayed is heart broken when he finds that his dearest wife was actually a a terrorist. He has to suffer intense insults and humiliation at the hands of public. But he is undeterred; he vows to find the real reasons behind the suicidal bombing.

The movie brings to light the reasons of terrorism and offers a solution to the problem. The background score is very nice and the songs are full of meaning and emotions.

Muzammil Ibrahim and Tulip Joshi have a good chemistry and do justice to the roles. Muzammil very nicely delivers the emotional scenes ; he has good acting skills and will surely succeed in his profession. I am hoping that you all like this Hindi movie more then I did.

Overall a good movie with lots of social message.

My Name Is Anthony Gonsalves

Filed under: Bollywood, New releases — Hindi movies @ 4:37 pm

Director E Nivas has worked wonders with a novice like Nikhil Dwivedi. The script and the pace of the movie is good. The acting of the supporting cast is a treat to watch. They are really seasoned actors with exceptional acting skills.

‘My name is Anthony Gonsalves’ is a story of a common man with uncommon dreams. Anthony(Nikhil Dviwed) is a bar tender, who dreams to be Bollywood hero. Sikander(Pawan Malhotra) a don is his mentor and guide. He does not want Anthony to live a life of crime and therefore he keeps him away from his business. Anthony struggles hard to make a name for himself in the film industry. In one of the auditions he impresses the judges with his performances and succeeds in bagging the role. But life has something else in store for him. Anthony accidentally watches Sikander and his goons hiding a dead body. His life changes after that day.He tells his story in a confession to Father(Mithun Chakravarty). This confession is overheard by Anthony’s friend Micheal(D Santosh) who in turn reveals all the secrets to the police. Now Anthony is in a catch 22 situation,he wants to take side of the police but due to his affinity for Sikander is hesitant to do so. What happens to Anthony’s dreams his aspirations is what the climax is all about.

Amrita Rao is as bubbly as ever; she is cute and fits in her character well. The trio Pawan Malhotra,Mukesh Tiwari and Daya Shanker Pandey are the real scene stealer’s.There acting is exceptional. Pawan Malhotra as the don with a good heart is the anchor of this film.He brings his character to life.Nikhil Dwivedi gives a fantastic performance inspite of his being a debutant actor; quite unexpected.

The music of the movie is catchy. The movie is slightly slow and dragging in the first half. The script is well written and the dialogue are witty. So go and watch this movie.

Halla Bol

Filed under: Bollywood, New releases, Vidya Balan — Tags: — Hindi movies @ 6:31 pm

Intense, gripping and thought provoking; that’s Halla Bol. It’s a gripping story of a super star who dares to stand against crime. The storyline, script and direction are fantastic. The most astounding part of the movie is performances by its actors -Simply soul stirring. Pankaj Kapoor portrays his character with textbook precision. He is spontaneous in his dialogue delivery and is the life of the film. Ajay Devgan and Vidya Balan do justice to their characters.

Ajay Devgan is a super star who has reached the top after lot of hard work. He is sincere man, but the fast life as a super star takes its toll. He gets carried away by the glamorous life and forgets his real self. He believes that to stay in business he has to lie, cheat and sleep around with beautiful girls. His infidelity is caught by his wife and she loses faith in him. Ajay’s life takes a u turn when he witness murder of a girl whom he had met in a party. He stays quiet because he fears that the high profile murder case can spoil his career. Somehow he remembers the rebuking of his guru and thus decides to fight against the crime.

The best part of the film is , it makes you laugh inspite of the intensity and seriousness. The humour does not spoil the mood of the film. The songs are nothing special infact one of the songs is poorly picturised and is totally misfit.

The pace of the first half is fast and is full of exceptional performances. The second half is predictable but interesting to watch. The movie is a product of intense research by the director. The hard work is seen in the film. The movie entertains you inspite of its serious subject and that is rarely achieved by film directors.

Overall a great movie ;full of mind blowing performances.

Cash

Filed under: Bollywood — Hindi movies @ 5:10 pm

If you want to see the worst movie of 2007 then you can waste your time in watching Cash. Before we say anything on our ghastly experience,we would like to advice Anubhav Sinha that a movie cannot succeed, if it has a weak script. The movie is totally confusing; the script lacks depth, continuity etc, etc, etc; the list too long. The action scenes are just about average. The songs are good especially Bruna Abdullah in Reham Kare, she is mind blowing. She dances well and adds life to the film. The title song is nice.

Ajay tries hard to make you laugh but his attempts are hopeless as the movie is a total washout. The rest of the cast is sleeping throughout the movie. The intermingling of film characters with animation characters was unnecessary and added to the confusion. This was never seen before and it was not a bright idea to explain the characters. We are not writing about the story as there is hardly any story; it’s just style without substance.

In the end we can only say that when bad movies like Dus succeed than further bad movies like Cash are made. A big thumbs down for Anubhav Sinha. So if you want to torture yourself; please go and watch it; else avoid it totally.
