Vantage Point

Filed under: Hollywood, New releases — Hindi movies @ 8:12 am

A terrorist organization of Spanish origin plans to abduct the American President during an important peace process meeting. The story deals with the perspective of eight people who are present during the entire episode. The first half of the movie shows the perspective of all these individuals. The story moves forward only in the second half.

The story line is fantastic and keeps the interest levels of the audience throughout the movie. Dennis Quid plays the role of the secret service agent who looks after the President’s security. He is the one, who solves the entire mystery which is revealed towards the end of the movie.

The end of the movie is not spectacular, in fact it is quite mediocre. The movie begins with high intensity sequence of events. However, the end is not commensurate with it.

Overall the movie is of an average standard and is definitely a one time watch.

Rambo 4

Filed under: Hollywood, New releases — Hindi movies @ 5:04 pm

Sylvester Stallone has given a befitting sequel to the Rambo series. This latest Rambo movie is an edge of the seat action movie which never fails to increase your adrenalin flow. The story line as usual deals with the Americans saving the world. In this movie Rambo saves the Burmese from a military tyrant. The action sequences are great and thrilling especially the scene in which Rambo saves the missionaries from getting butchered; that was a good , chilling action packed scene.

The story unfolds in a interesting way with Rambo hesitating to enter the war thinking he cannot change anything. But a young missionary manages to change his opinion and he joins the war against tyranny. The script is well written and the characters have given good performances. Sylvester Stallone looks old but that does not stop him to rekindle the fire of the Rambo series. We are sure Rambo fans will not be disappointed with this latest film. The movie has lots of violence and thus is not recommended for the weak hearted audience. Don’t be surprised to see legs been cut and stomachs been torn apart.

This is must see for all die hard Rambo fans, don’ t miss it.

National Treasure: Book Of Secrets

Filed under: Hollywood — Hindi movies @ 4:38 pm

National Treasure:Book Of Secrets,  is a sequel of the previous movie National Treasure. Do not go to see this moving with great expectations as the storyline is quite obsolete and predictable and that is the main problem of this film. To make matters worse the script is too confusing with too many sub plots.Due to this the viewer looses track of the story line.

As usual  Benjamin Gates (Nicolas Cage) is the main hero with exceptional skills to solve riddles. The story starts with Benjamin Gates(Nicolas Cage)  giving a presentation to glorify his ancestors. But he is challenged by a stranger ‘Mitch Wilkinson’ who succeeds in proving that Benjamin Gates’s (Nicolas Cage) great-great grandfather was actually involved in the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. So in order to  prove his family’s innocence  Cage decides to solve the secret and that is the main crux of this movie. Cage in the process of solving this mystery gets access to  Buckingham palace and Oval Office. As if it  was not enough he succeeds in kidnapping The President of United States. When will Hollywood grow up. They think that they can show us any unbelievable stuff and we will accept it.

Inspite of all these weird things the Hindi  dubbing of the movie is quite good. The cinematography is good and there are some funny moments in this film. The climax of this film is nicely shot and does manage to impress you.

Overall it could have been a great movie had their been a good script. So if you have nothing to do for the week end ; Go and watch it.

The Golden Compass

Filed under: Hollywood, New releases — Hindi movies @ 1:22 pm

The golden compass is a spectacular movie which has the potential to outwit the Potter mania. The movie is full of spectacular visuals which leave you spellbound. The movie is full of talking polar bears, flying witches and artic battles, to name a few.

Though this movie does not have the brand equity of Harry Potter it does have all the ingredients of a blockbuster. Our heroine is a little girl Lyra who knows answers to all her questions from her golden compass. Lyra’s universe is controlled by the authoritarian Magistrate which has full control over its people. It does not encourage free will in its people. It wants to exile deamons who are free spirits living along with humans. To get full control over its people the Magisterium decides to get rid of the deamons. It starts capturing the children and programs them in human labs, so that they forget the ability of free will. But our heroine is made of strong will; she escapes the captivity of Ms Kidman and sets on an adventure to save the world. She is helped by a polar bear in her pursuits. Lyra’s performance is exceptional, she outwits Harry. Daniel Craig has hardly any role in the film, hope his role is saved for the sequels. Nicole Kidman is good in her character.

The characters in the movie are interesting and the CGI animation is top class. The second half the film is really spectacular. Hollywood has mastered CGI animation technology and it shows clearly in this movie.

This movie is a good watch for elders as well. So go along with your family and have a blast.

I am Legend

Filed under: Hollywood — Hindi movies @ 9:18 am

I am Legend is a story about a virologist Robert Neville( Will Smith) who is the only healthy survivor in the city of New York. The movie has very good cinematography. It is a great experience to see the city of Manhattan without its inhabitants. This has not been shown for quite some time. The CGI animation of the movie is good and blends with the story.

Will Smith is a lone survivor in the city of New York and his only companion is his dog Sam.Three years ago a mutant virus kills 90% of the world population. The remaining 9% became mutant beings who are intolerant to UV radiation and the rest 1% are left immune to the virus. Will Smith tries to find a cure to the disease by capturing a female mutant but fails in his attempt. The mutants in turn also succeed in capturing Will Smith. As Will Smith tries to escape, his dog Sam is bitten by the mutant dogs and thus she gets infected. Will Smith’s performance in this scene is exceptional. He plays his emotions well,it makes you feel the pain he is undergoing when he is forced to kill his only friend. One more scene which is worth mentioning is the Brooklyn Bridge scene in which Will Smithis plays golf atop a SR-71 fighter je,that scene was wonderful;great filming.

The movie gets heavy on your emotions at times especially when Will Smith is talking with the mannequin,it shows the mental stress he is undergoing and his desire to live. The movie startles you at times and has it’s own share of suspense. The first half has some good scenes. These scenes manage to keep you glued to the screen and increase the interest levels. The second half is predictable however the climax is unexpected and befitting to the storyline.

Overall the movie is a good time pass as it is filled with some breathtaking cinematography and CGI shots. You can also see the movie for Will Smith who is good .It is a good time pass movie.

300(Hindi)

Filed under: Hollywood — Hindi movies @ 3:41 pm

If you are interested in honor, courage, patriotism and if you like to watch action movies then you must not miss 300.The movie is non stop action and is full of violence and bloody battles. The movie is based on epic graphic novel by Frank Miller. It keeps you wonder struck throughout the movie. The battle scenes are realistic and are shot in a unique style. The CGI animation is used in an interesting manner.
The movie is a visual effects treat. Almost all the scenes are digitally altered to give an illustrative look to the film, but due care is taken to make the scenes appear realistic. The film is historically accurate to a large extent. The Spartan culture is very beautifully illustrated in this movie. It is worth watching even though it is filled with extreme violence.
The story begins with a narration by a Spartan named Dillios (David Wenham). He explains how his King Leonidas (Gerard Butler) is subjected to the hardships of Spartan life and how he faces these hardships and comes out as a winner and becomes the King of Sparta. Dillios further tells the story of how a Persian messenger threatens Spartans with slavery and humiliates Queen Gorgo(Lena Headey). Angry at this proposal of submission, King Leonidas kicks the messenger into a death well. The Persian King Xerxes (Rodrigo Santoro) bribes the Spartan priests, who misinterpret the oracle and order Leonidas not to go to war. In spite of this Leonidas selects 300 of his best men and proceeds to the Hot Gates at Thermopylae. These men fight bravely against the Persian army at the Hot Gates. Xerxes is quite impressed by the bravery of Spartans and meets Leonidas.
King Leonidas tells Xerxes that before the war ends they will make Xerxes bleed and ensure that he comes out of his belief of being a God King. The Spartans fight bravely and are subdued due to a traitor called Ephialtes who shows the goat path to Persians. Due to this treachery, the Persians succeed in subduing Leonidas and his brave 300.The climax of the film is very intense and leaves you with awe and respect for King Leonidas. The movie ends with Dillios finishing his tale on the battlefield in front of Spartans thus motivating them to defeat Persians. For a change the dubbing of the movie in Hindi is good and it succeeds in maintaining the mood of the movie. A must watch for action lover’s.
